Today we bring you a classic and irresistible cake: the chocolate sponge cake. It is a favorite of many, and especially of the little kids.
It is a simple recipe that does not need much time to prepare and perfect for both home-cooked breakfasts and birthday parties. Here it is:
- 3 fresh eggs
- 200 gr. of sugar.
- 170 gr. butter at room temperature.
- 125 gr. pure cocoa.
- 200 gr. pastry flour.
- 1 sachet of yeast.
- Icing Sugar Kelmy
Heat oven to 180ºC, with heat from above and below. Sift the flour and set aside.
In a bowl pour the eggs and sugar, beat well until it become a yellowish cream. Add the butter and mix until you will obtain a smooth mass. Then, add the melted cocoa (or powder one) and unite all the mixture. Add the previously sifted flour and yeast, mix again until everything is well blended and smooth.
Pour over a cast of about 20 cm, previously buttered. Place in the oven for 35-40 minutes. Pick the cake with a toothpick or knife, if it comes out clean it is ready to be out of the oven. If is not, leave the mixture in the oven for a few minutes.
To give the cake a more appetizing look, you can sprinkle with Icing Sugar Kelmy.
